What is a good, cheap barrel upgrade for the Tippman 98 Custom? What are other good upgrades?
I need some affordable, decent upgrades for the Tippman 98 custom.
"jon" The flatline barrel as a picky barrel that needs to be tuned in order to work properly and shoot accurately. Without the pricise tuning and the right paintballs (take alot of trial and error) it typically shoots curve balls.
A better choice would be an Apex tip if you want that extra range since it is not as picky on paintballs and much easier to use. It can also be turned off to use the barrel alone for normal shooting. The Apex barrel that the Apex tip comes on is junk since the bore is too big for most paintballs and therefore will not shoot accurately. The Apex tip can be installed on just about any other barrel by a tape mod or actual adaptor.
Accuracy comes from a good paintball and a good paintball to barrel match to where the paintball can be easily blown out of the barrel but not roll out or get stuck.
A good barrel is a Palmers Brass Barrel. It has a unique bore that will fit and accurately shoot differently sized paintballs.

(not longer than 16", porting not needed on a tippmann, .690 bore)
A barrel that costs a bit less would be a J&J barrel but it simply has a fixed bore and you will need to find a paintball that fits the bore size for best accuracy.
Other upgrades are the cyclone feed or other force fed hoppers (I recommend the cyclone with Tech-T vortex ratchet as a minimum upgrade).
An expansion chamber can help if your using Co2 since it gives the Co2 more room to expand and gives more consistant shots. The expansion chamber will loose its benifits if it starts to ice over from rapid firing. Look for an inexpensive, used (if possible) gas through grip for the 98C and then a inexpensive expansion chamber. That way, you can get your own expansion chamber for about $25 rather than the $50+ they sell for. The next step up from an expansion chamber is a Palmers Stabilizer which will basically give Co2, HPA like performance:

Should you really wear a paintball mask while playing Airsoft?
I ask this because as you may know, paintball masks are practically a sauna when running around in the hot, humid summer weather. (I live in the northeast.) I was thinking about going with just skiing goggles, but I imagine getting hit on the exposed parts of your face would hurt pretty bad. I guess it’s a balance between protection and comfort, but does it really matter?
They make airsoft masks that are smaller than paintball masks and much cooler. That is because the do not need to be as strong because they only have to block a small BB

How long of a paintball barrel is too long?
I was told that a paintball barrel 14 inches and over causes friction which is bad, I just want to know if this is true. And if it is, why is it bad.
Pro players use up to 16 inches in barrel length. To answer your question. How long is too long. There is a barrel called the blitz barrel that is 21 inches in length. That is way too long.
Its not bad. I perfer 14 inch barrels. You should buy what you like and not what everyone else thinks. On that note I suggest you buy a 14incher.

what should i get for a sniper paintball gun?
i play a lot of wood ball and i kinda want a sniper paintball gun what has good accuracy for long range (i no its a paintball gun )
Like Paco said, there is no such thing as a paintball sniper. The reason for this is because all paintball guns can fire the same distance, and after an accurate 16" barrel is added to any of them, they all gain about the same accuracy. Any barrel beyond 16" will simply add to the amount of friction the ball encounters when fired, which decreases the velocity of the shot, which means less range. So, just get an accurate 16" barrel, and that’s as accurate as your gonna make your gun.

Paintball – Candid Interview with a Local Pro Shop Owner
In response to the Wal-Mart and Dicks Sporting Goods videos, I finally sat down with an owner of a local pro paintball shop to see what he thinks of big box stores selling paintball gear and guns. This is Travis, the owner of Tiki’s Paintball of Tampa. They are located in Brandon, FL.
He was pretty honest with his responses and tried his best to be informative without sounding like a whining/complaining bitch. His thoughts pretty much resemble what a lot of people have been saying about the other videos, it was just good to get it from someone that’s been in the game for so long…
