after you get shot in the face with a paintball, there is an oily film on my lense that makes them blurry when i wipe them. what should i use to clean them
Use water or an anti-fog/lens cleaner and a micro fiber cloth. DO NOT use a glass cleaner (ie. Windex) to clean your lens.
The microfiber cloth can be used dry to wipe most of the paint off after you’ve been called out and in between games, until you are able to get back to the staging area.

2 commentsWould it be alright if I used my pro flex frames (top part of a paintball mask) as skiing goggles?
I’m going skiing this spring break and was just wondering if there is anything special about skiing goggles or if the pro flex frames will work fine.
Here’s what they look like for those that don’t paintball:

Picture is missing the lens and strap but just so you can get a general idea
And please explain why not…
I don’t know how paintball goggles are made, but ski goggles have double lenses and vents so you don’t have fogging issues. The lenses are colored like sunglasses so you don’t get blinded by the glare off the snow, and to help you better discern the texture of the snow. UV protection is also included with most goggles now.
If you are just going skiing this one time, you can always try wearing regular sunglasses with plastic lenses instead. You don’t have to wear goggles, and many people don’t. I wear them because I have really watery eyes, and they help keep my face warm too.

25 commentsHello everyone..What is a good set of paintball goggles for me to get for reffing?..?
I just started working as a ref at the local paintball place and i’d like to get my own goggles..what are a good pair for me to get? I have the dye i4′s already but i use them to play and they are dark so i don’t know if it’s a good mask for reffing. so any suggestions would b appreciated..a couple people told me to get bright color goggles so i can b noticed as a ref. easier..but i can’t find any bright color goggles. Thanks everyone in advance
Most refs wear a variety of mask colors – it’s the ref jerseys that really stand out. But you can look for yellow masks. I know Vforce makes some (Pro-Vantage, it’s pretty cheap).
I’d recommend a JT Proshield for reffing. It’s identical to the Flex/Proflex masks but has a hard bottom & hard ears, which is what you’ll want when reffing, because you’ll definitely get shot more than if you were playing. Comes with a clear dual-pane lens, which lets you see everything and won’t fog up. But i’ve only seen it in black, although all the parts on them are interchangeable with the rest of the Spectra series (Flex, Proflex, etc) Costs more, though, about $45.

i want 2 use airsoft goggles for paintball… can i?
can i use airsoft goggles in a paintball game… give a good reason why i can… without losing an eye!
No way should you ever use anything but goggles/face protectors made for paintball. The goggles for airsoft are not designed for the impact, and will shatter if hit- pushing fragments of the plastic into your eye, most likely resulting in blindness, or at least serious eye damage. The masks also protect other vital areas of your head- your ears and temples, which if hit by a paintball could also mean serious injury.
Even paintball goggles can sometimes fail, if they are old or damaged or hit at very close range, but they are far safer than any airsoft goggle, and if they do fail, they will do so in a "safe" way- i.e. it won’t shatter/splinter.
You should also keep your goggles on at all times, as I’ve seen too many near accidents where someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing accidentally pops off a round in the chrono station or other parts of the field before or after playing- even saw some idiots shooting in the parking lot w. no goggles, which is begging for a trip to the ER.
