Should you really wear a paintball mask while playing Airsoft?

March 18th, 2010 | Category: paintball masks

I ask this because as you may know, paintball masks are practically a sauna when running around in the hot, humid summer weather. (I live in the northeast.) I was thinking about going with just skiing goggles, but I imagine getting hit on the exposed parts of your face would hurt pretty bad. I guess it’s a balance between protection and comfort, but does it really matter?

They make airsoft masks that are smaller than paintball masks and much cooler. That is because the do not need to be as strong because they only have to block a small BB

Paintball Masks that can still use sights?

March 12th, 2010 | Category: paintball masks

What paintball masks can I use so that I can still use the sights on the top rail of the gun. I have a mask that, when I put it on and lean down to the stock, it holds my head up too high, and I can’t see the sights.

None are out there made for sights. And really sights are not much use in paintball because markers are not accurate enough to make one of much use.

There are rails and stuff that will raise your sight up higher or tilt it to the side so you can look through it easier. They are made for paintball, airsoft, and real guns. There is one that tilts it at a 45 degree angle that works ok. mainly you need to have a picatiny rail or weaver rail on your marker to use one. Look on opsgear.com or any paintball sight. Also you can find them on ebay. Normally you will find the best prices on ebay just look under paintball and you should find them. Most are about $15.

What material is a paintball mask made of?

March 10th, 2010 | Category: paintball masks

I am a hobbyist and make helmets (405th.com). I was wondering if anyone knew what material paintball masks are made of and if it is easily available.

Injection molded polyethelene for the hard plastic bits. For the flex masks they use a hard rubber compound or a softer polymer.

There are a number of materials that a heat formable that you could purchase but bear in mind that they would not be safety tested or rated (even though they may meet the criteria). At the very least, build your face shield around a set of existing and approved paintball goggles.

I have a big head what paintball mask will comfortably fit me?

March 08th, 2010 | Category: paintball masks

Like i said, i have a big head and i have trouble finding sunglasses as well as paintball masks. I have a jt mask that just doesnt fit, the foam is hard and cant even make a seal. Is there a flexible mask or something.? i also want a quality mask not some generic cheapo that fits anybody.

JT does make a flex mask – The JT Flex. Try Scott – They used to make the Bad Ass which was pretty big. I too have a big noggin and the bottom of my chin tends to hang out a bit. The JT Thermal masks also have softer foam unlike their single pane units.

Good luck.

Dual Turbo Fans Paintball Mask Custom Made, Re-edited for YouTube

March 07th, 2010 | Category: paintball masks

This is the original Dual Turbo Fans Paintball Mask Custom Made I re-edited and removed all the music because youtube pulled the other audio clip on my original post of this, because I received so many requests to put another version up and restore the audio here it is, the original minus the AB Rangers audio clip in the beginning and the Bad Company audio in the end, note the bad company clip was about 20 seconds long or so, a real threat to youtube and WMG’s profit margin.

And I must add to this that as for the battery box if you don’t want to mess with that little screw that holds the main battery box onto the mount attached to the helmet you can just use a strip of black electrical tape and run it around the outside edge of the battery box, that holds the two together nicely:)

Here’s a short video on how to install your own mini fans to defog your paintball mask without having to spend 20 to 30 dollars to buy a pre-made one that don’t fit right. The fans are 25mm x 25mm x 10mm, 5 volt, the part number they go by is: # AFB02505MA just put that part number into your favorite search engine and you will see all kinds of links, they sell for about $3.99 to $5.99 each if you search around a bit.
